DementiaActive – New sessions Nuneaton and Warwick
Sky Blues in the Community launched DementiaActive in Coventry back in September 2021 and it has proved to be a great success.
The session consists of a variety of activities for participants of all abilities. These include badminton, table tennis, soft archery, indoor bowls, basketball, and football. Plus, we have games that are less physically demanding like giant Jenga, cards and other board games.
We give the participants the opportunity to choose which ever activity they like and there is no pressure on them to do any specific activity. There is also plenty of space for everyone attending to have a seat and chat with others.
Participants are welcome to attend with carers/family members or friends and we encourage them to join in also, which helps create a positive atmosphere at sessions.
The new sessions will be taking place in Nuneaton:

A new website featuring information about a range of community organisations, services and events in Warwickshire is now available.
Warwickshire County Council has created SearchOut to bring all of this information into one place to make it easier for people to find out about local services and support. The content on the site is contributed and managed by the community for the community and will grow as more local organisations add their information.
People can use the website in two ways, either to browse current listings or to add and manage their own service information. Information is listed by topic, type or location making it easier for people to search out what they need.
SearchOut Warwickshire, is an improved version of the Warwickshire Directory and replaces this community resource. There is a focus on health and social care information and local organisations that can help with physical and mental health and wellbeing and associated activities, groups, and events are promoted.
Britain’s biggest and most vibrant walking community
Since 1935, we’ve been doing everything we can to make sure everyone everywhere can enjoy nature on foot. We lead the way, and the walks, for a community of over 100,000 walkers. And we help thousands more every year find their feet out in the open to boost their wellbeing naturally.
The Ramblers is a charity dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces and to preserving and improving hundreds of thousands of miles of well-loved paths, tracks and trails across England, Scotland, and Wales. We’re committed to campaigning to keep our countryside open to all and to fighting for the things that matter most to walkers. We are the Ramblers: Boosting Britain’s wellbeing one step at a time.

Do you enjoy walking, days out, not sure what Nuneaton and the surrounding local areas have to offer?
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC) aims to increase the number of walkers locally. Anyone of any age and ability are welcome to the walks and our walk leaders will help you to walk at a pace that is right for you.
If you enjoy walking, are sociable and would like to help others to get more active then you could become a volunteer walk leader. We need more walk leaders to help our lead current walks and to develop walks in new areas. We offer free walk leader training, which takes one day and we then continue to support walk leaders with regular meetings and events with free refreshments. For more information please visit:
